Activated charcoal is a black, odourless, flavourless powder that has been used since ancient times to treat various ailments. It's most commonly derived from coconut shells for food supplements. The charcoal is activated by processing it at very high temperatures, this changes its internal structure and makes it more porous. Due to its porous texture, it works by trapping toxins and chemicals in the gut, preventing their absorption.
